Bude to Boscastle. Day 11

Today was definitely the hardest day of the two weeks! 16.5 miles wit a total ascent of 5100 feet. Over the two days we have walked 32 miles with a total ascent of 9300 feet, or to put in perspective 3 Snowdens.

We left our B&B at 8.50 and made our way out of Bude which is nice little town, up the hills to the cliff top paths and on to Widemouth Bay, some 3 miles away. From here we followed the cliffs almost all the way making a stop every 2 hours and a stop for tea at Crackington Haven. We had several hard climbs with lots of steep steps both uphill and downhill which took their toll on the legs. We got into Boscastle around 6.30 and checked into the Riverside Hotel which had excellent accommodation – baths in all our rooms- badly needed. We thought the cliffs over the last few days were harder than the Coast to Coast. So far we have walked over 140 miles and have another 40 to do by Thursday night. On to Port Isaac tomorrow -or Port Wenn as it’s called in Doc Martin! Spotte some seals over the last couple of date but hard to get photos. Photos of today below.

  1. Bude to Boscastle sounded gruelling but see you were all still smiling at the Haven CafĂ© or was that because you’d hidden the ‘cream tea’ evidence? Hope the stretch from Boscastle to Port Isaac is much kinder and the weather is good to you. Not far now lads and what an achievement, walking up Snowdon three times in two days, despite it being in a different country!! Seriously though you are all amazing you’re doing brilliantly. Good luck on the next stretch. Take care, walk safely. Love Lindaxx
P.S. Brian, Elsa wants to know if you are missing Susie?

  2. What an achievement, you have all done so well. Great place to stay after such a hard walk, and you still look as if you are all enjoying the experience. The next few days will seem so easy and give the old legs a bit of an easier time. Great to read the blogs, keep them coming. I suppose you will soon be “planning”the next one. Well done take care. Brenda.

  3. Hi all. Hope you are all still going strong and have found today a bit easier than the last two. The comment about Snowden really put it in perspective. WELL DONE. Just been looking at the Old School House, tonights stay-over. Praps you should all book in with Doc Martin and see if he can help you along for the last push. I’m sure if they were filming they could write you into the script. I can just picture the scene in that Drs. waiting room!!! Well just two more days to go – feel proud of yourselves. Have a good planning meeting and will see you soon. Take care. Love to all Mary xxx

  4. P.S. Love the picture of the bird – not sure what it is but the beak looks a bit fierce. Reckon that could win prizes. Keep em coming!!. Mary xxx

  5. Well done boys. Sounds like a gruelling walk but the views must have been spectacular. Looks like you will need your wet weather gear for the next couple of days. Look forward to you coming home. Love margaret and emily xx
